Development Volunteer Service Weltwarts

Weltwarts is the Development Volunteer Service of the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. It targets young people - Germans and non - Germans - living in Germany.

Weltwarts focuses on "learning by serving". DED (Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst) is participating in weltwarts in order to give young people an opportunity to gain intercultural, practical and personal experience in the field of development cooperation.

Profile of the volunteers for Weltwarts

The volunteers are between 18 and 23 years old. Most of them have just completed their secondary school education; some have already finished their vocational training. By working in Nepal for 12 months, the young volunteers will contribute to the efforts of partner organizations, gain insights about Nepal and develop an understanding and comprehension for Asia.

For some of them, their experience will guide them in choosing their careers. Hence the volunteers acquire intercultural competences and local organizations get a helping hand - benefit for both sides.
